What do you do if you want to pass a test? Study. What do you do if you want to win a game? Practice. What do you do when you fall in love? Jump into it and hope it works out.
Doesn’t make much sense does it? It blows my mind how people will study and prepare for all sorts of things, and when it comes to relationships just kind of wing it. Totally underplaying the fact that you’re about to start a LIFE with a completely different PERSON who has their own VIEWS and way of doing things.
Relationships (at least those that you care about) should be the one thing that you study, practice and give your absolute best to make work in the best possible way.
That makes sense right? If you love someone and want to spend the rest of your life with them that you should do as much preparing as possible to make sure that the two of you give your absolute best for one another?
Of course not. You’re right. You should just jump into it and trust that love will be enough to get you over the fact that he expects you to do all of the dishes–always.
Be smart, do your homework and find out how the two of you can put your best foot forward and work out any potential conflict before it happens. Talk to a coach. Don’t wait until you’ve hurt the one you love by not paying attention to their needs. Learn their love language. Learn yours.
Positive vibes for positive vibes.
Love y’all
