Jesus take the wheel…

A common statement sometimes used in a joking manner sometimes being serious. I don’t necessarily agree with the idea though.

People leave things in the hands of God and expect things to work out for the best but trusting in God has to be like driving a car. You trust God is going to help you get to where you need to go but if you’re not holding that wheel you’re going to crash. You have to be actively driving your car just like you have to be actively living your life. Living on purpose. If you’re not actively pursuing your success, you’re going to crash.

So have Faith, trust reason, whatever your practice or belief. Whatever you want to call it. Just be active! Trust the process but work the plan!!

What will you die for?

How committed are you to your dreams? Is the only thing you dedicate to your dream sleep?

I recently went to the John Maxwell Team certification and I was there with 2,999 other people. We were all there with the same general purpose of self improvement. We all have different dreams though.

While there we did an exercise that asked us what we were and were not inclined to give up to accomplish our dreams. My answer: I’ll die for my dream. That’s my level of commitment.

Technically I’d transform for my dream cause I don’t believe in death. You get the idea though.

If your dream isn’t the most important thing in your life, it isn’t a dream–it’s an idea. Ideas change, DREAMS CHANGE YOU.

Commit to your dream. If you are to convince anyone that your dream is real you have to be willing to stake everything to accomplish it.

Are you afraid?

What would you strive for right now if you knew that it was GUARANTEED you would accomplish it?

Generally how do you FEEL about the things that you want to do in life? DO YOU THINK I’ll give it a shot and if it doesn’t work oh well? Or do you think, I’M GOING TO GIVE THIS MY BEST UNTIL I HAVE WHAT I WANT?

I used to have the first type of mentality described. Didn’t notice until later that by doing this I’m already stepping up to something DEFEATED. Now I’ve learned that if I stick with something long enough IT’S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME UNTIL THAT SOMETHING IS MINE.

Eventually the energy you’re investing into something builds a strength so powerful that the only choice is for you to have it.

BEING AFRAID HOLDS US BACK, unless we instead learn to be afraid of not having what we want. FEAR IS THE GREAT MOTIVATOR!

Aspire to be great–and you will be.

Does your brain have a language?

I’m sure you’ve heard about your subconscious mind. You know that part of the brain that works in the background? Some really smart people sometime back compared this “subconscious mind” to a blank clay tablet. On this tablet we write a code. Just like a computer this code is the brains language.

What your brain is exposed to is what gets imprinted on this clay tablet. So think about that: if you expose your brain to a bunch of negativity what kind of language do you think your brain will have?

The more you read and the more you put positive thoughts into your brain, the better your language will be. You can set yourself up for success with positive affirmations.

Say to yourself every morning that you are amazing, great and confident and you have the power to achieve anything that you want in life. Do that and see how much your life changes.

We have control over what we expose our brains to the most. You can change your brains language to help you achieve your goals. Teach that little voice in your head to be your biggest cheerleader and go out and accomplish greatness.

Stop feeding your brain junk and start feeding it tools of inspiration.

Being true

You never get tired of being who you naturally are; you get tired of being someone that you’re trying to be, because it’s unnatural.

Think about how you are and the things you do on a daily basis. An example is someone who likes to work out. If someone truly likes working out they don’t ever get tired of it because they enjoy it.

On the other hand if someone doesn’t like working out they have to push themselves to do it. This people get tired of because it’s something you don’t enjoy doing. You’re only doing it because of some other motive.

If you catch yourself saying out loud or to yourself that you’re tired of being “nice”, or tired of being well behaved stop and ask yourself: am I doing these things because I genuinely enjoy doing theses things or because it’s what other people expect of me?

It’s not a matter of right or wrong. It’s a matter of true or false. Know who you really are and stress will leave your life.

Love and let love

What do you do if you want to pass a test? Study. What do you do if you want to win a game? Practice. What do you do when you fall in love? Jump into it and hope it works out.

Doesn’t make much sense does it? It blows my mind how people will study and prepare for all sorts of things, and when it comes to relationships just kind of wing it. Totally underplaying the fact that you’re about to start a LIFE with a completely different PERSON who has their own VIEWS and way of doing things.

Relationships (at least those that you care about) should be the one thing that you study, practice and give your absolute best to make work in the best possible way.

That makes sense right? If you love someone and want to spend the rest of your life with them that you should do as much preparing as possible to make sure that the two of you give your absolute best for one another?

Of course not. You’re right. You should just jump into it and trust that love will be enough to get you over the fact that he expects you to do all of the dishes–always.

Be smart, do your homework and find out how the two of you can put your best foot forward and work out any potential conflict before it happens. Talk to a coach. Don’t wait until you’ve hurt the one you love by not paying attention to their needs. Learn their love language. Learn yours.

Don’t be offended

Ever met a germaphobe? Me either. I’ve heard of them though and I get what the term means. Pretty much scared shitless of germs.

I think in today’s world–at least today’s America (United States of America), being a germaphobe and being politically correct sure as hell do a lot of flirting.

People are to the point where they’re afraid to talk because they may offend someone. It’s sickening really. I think if someone says something and you feel offended by it, deep inside of your person you find truth in what they said.

It’s simple really: if you don’t like the way someone talks you shouldn’t worry about changing them; you should just focus on what you can control–you. Remove yourself from the situation.

I think today people are so caught up on “fixing” other people and changing how others are that it’s become an all out war. A free for all. Change everything that makes you upset or uncomfortable. Sometimes the best thing to do is change your surroundings by leaving.

To ask someone to change how they live to accommodate the way you live is a self defeating cause. You’re asking someone to accept your way of life and at the same time you’re not accepting theirs.

We don’t have to like each other to work together. We just have to have common goals. Let’s focus more on the goals and less on the bullshit. Let’s grow a little testicular fortitude and not be offended by everything. Seriously your being offended offends me.

Like how I did that? Pretty witty I know. I’m pretty awesome.

Life reflections

Wherever you go—there you are. That means that it doesn’t matter if you change cities, change jobs, change friends. If you don’t change YOU, you’ll just attract the same things all over again. You have to change your mind to change your life.

People every where stop talking to certain people, or move out of dead end towns every day. All with the hopes that they can stay out of trouble or finally be successful. Some of these people do exactly what they set out to do–many don’t.

What determines the difference? Character. Those who succeed leave the negativity behind. Those who don’t carry it around everywhere they go. They can never escape it because it is within them. We attract who we are.

“You cannot have a negative mindset and live a positive life.”

Who you are at your core is the seed that you plant everywhere you go with every relationship you make. All “true” change starts within us. We have to start with the person in the mirror. You have to change your mind to change your life.

The conflict of belonging

“there is no right and wrong, just true and false.”

Conflict comes from forcing oneself into something that isn’t compatible with our true self. Forcing ourselves into societal accepted norms. Into a religion etc… Don’t look for a group to belong to and then adjust to what that group wants you to be. Find who you are and then the right group that is compatible with your true self will find you. There is no right or wrong just true and false.

The worst part about joining a group that isn’t compatible with your true self, is that you end up jeopardizing the integrity of the group. E.g. a person who decides to be a Christian who knows they still plan to do unchristian like things, only ends up portraying a bad image of the group.

If you know you’re not cut out for something, don’t force it. Your tribe will come. It’ll be natural. You won’t have to adjust to the group because the people in the group will be just–like–you.

Don’t be pressured into groups and moral standards by the masses. Be true to the most important person in your life. YOU.

Provocative thought?

The only things in life that matter are the things that matter to you. Ever thought about that?

In the end it’s all relative to your goals. Everything in life is a matter of choice. You choose what’s important to you. If being fit isn’t a goal of yours then working out and eating healthy probably aren’t very high on your list of priorities.

Some people say we “need” to do this, or we “need” to do that. Really, we don’t “need” to do anything. Hell you don’t even need to breathe if you don’t want to. Even life is a choice.

At the end of the day you’re either going to be closer or farther away from your goals. It is all subject to the choices you make throughout the day.

Be the captain of your own destiny and be happy. You don’t need to do anything, you choose to do it. I pray that you will choose to be free from people who are afraid to live and will do those things that make you happy; like putting ketchup on eggs, or pineapple on pizza. Go crazy–why not?
