Growth is not an accident

How many of us want better? Anything. A better life in general. A better career. A better relationship. A better looking bank account?

Almost everybody we know wants something better. How many actually have a plan to make better happen?

I think most of us have grown with the misconception that growth just happens. That if we go to school, and get a job and work hard we will by default move up and up in life.

Now how many people do we know that have done this and are still in the same place ten years later?

One great thing I heard was: ” if you’re still talking about what you did five years ago you haven’t grown.”

The main take away here is that most people want to change their circumstances but are unwilling to change themselves.

If we want a better life we have to work diligently on at least one thing everyday and make it better. Be it how we treat others, how we eat, how we spend etc…

We must live on purpose!

Journey to success

Success is a destination, just like any other destination you don’t get there instantly. You get there one step at a time in the right direction.

If we learn to treat our journey toward success like we treat a journey to any where on our GPS we would have a lot more success.

When we set our destination on our GPS we get a little blue line that tells us where we’re going. We get an estimated time that the journey will take.

All of this allows us to prepare in advance for our travel. We know it’s going to take time. We know that there may be some delays, that there may be road blocks and traffic jams. We may get tired. At the end of it all we know that sooner or later, one way or another–we’re going to get there.

So we get in our car and we drive. We follow the directions and we focus on the path ahead until we get to where we want to be.

This is our path to success. Let’s put our destination into our success GPS. Follow the directions and let’s focus on the path ahead. Buckle up and drive on; and just like taking a trip eventually we will get to where we want to be.

Jesus take the wheel…

A common statement sometimes used in a joking manner sometimes being serious. I don’t necessarily agree with the idea though.

People leave things in the hands of God and expect things to work out for the best but trusting in God has to be like driving a car. You trust God is going to help you get to where you need to go but if you’re not holding that wheel you’re going to crash. You have to be actively driving your car just like you have to be actively living your life. Living on purpose. If you’re not actively pursuing your success, you’re going to crash.

So have Faith, trust reason, whatever your practice or belief. Whatever you want to call it. Just be active! Trust the process but work the plan!!

What will you die for?

How committed are you to your dreams? Is the only thing you dedicate to your dream sleep?

I recently went to the John Maxwell Team certification and I was there with 2,999 other people. We were all there with the same general purpose of self improvement. We all have different dreams though.

While there we did an exercise that asked us what we were and were not inclined to give up to accomplish our dreams. My answer: I’ll die for my dream. That’s my level of commitment.

Technically I’d transform for my dream cause I don’t believe in death. You get the idea though.

If your dream isn’t the most important thing in your life, it isn’t a dream–it’s an idea. Ideas change, DREAMS CHANGE YOU.

Commit to your dream. If you are to convince anyone that your dream is real you have to be willing to stake everything to accomplish it.

Are you afraid?

What would you strive for right now if you knew that it was GUARANTEED you would accomplish it?

Generally how do you FEEL about the things that you want to do in life? DO YOU THINK I’ll give it a shot and if it doesn’t work oh well? Or do you think, I’M GOING TO GIVE THIS MY BEST UNTIL I HAVE WHAT I WANT?

I used to have the first type of mentality described. Didn’t notice until later that by doing this I’m already stepping up to something DEFEATED. Now I’ve learned that if I stick with something long enough IT’S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME UNTIL THAT SOMETHING IS MINE.

Eventually the energy you’re investing into something builds a strength so powerful that the only choice is for you to have it.

BEING AFRAID HOLDS US BACK, unless we instead learn to be afraid of not having what we want. FEAR IS THE GREAT MOTIVATOR!

Aspire to be great–and you will be.

Does your brain have a language?

I’m sure you’ve heard about your subconscious mind. You know that part of the brain that works in the background? Some really smart people sometime back compared this “subconscious mind” to a blank clay tablet. On this tablet we write a code. Just like a computer this code is the brains language.

What your brain is exposed to is what gets imprinted on this clay tablet. So think about that: if you expose your brain to a bunch of negativity what kind of language do you think your brain will have?

The more you read and the more you put positive thoughts into your brain, the better your language will be. You can set yourself up for success with positive affirmations.

Say to yourself every morning that you are amazing, great and confident and you have the power to achieve anything that you want in life. Do that and see how much your life changes.

We have control over what we expose our brains to the most. You can change your brains language to help you achieve your goals. Teach that little voice in your head to be your biggest cheerleader and go out and accomplish greatness.

Stop feeding your brain junk and start feeding it tools of inspiration.
