Value of love

What do you love? Have you ever paid attention to what we attach the word love to? “I love pizza” is as common to hear as is “I love my mom”. That’s crazy!

When we attach the word love to ordinary things we’re making love ordinary. Love is extraordinary! It’s disrespectful to say that you love pizza and then turn around and say you love your mom. Although pizza is pretty damn good. Still! You’re pretty much putting those two on the same level. Do you “really” love pizza? Or do you just really enjoy eating pizza? Depends who’s pizza I guess right?

Using love so lightly takes away the value of the word. It doesn’t have the same affect anymore. If we used love appropriately it would be something special. It would have the affect that love is supposed to have; making someone feel special. I just don’t get that vibe when someone says they love a pair of underwear and then turn around and say they love me. Thank you? Think of it like a seating arrangement for a party. Everything you say you love will be sitting next to each other at the same table. Eh, not so bad I guess? Depending on who’s pizza and who’s underwear I suppose? I hope they’re nice.
